Hello and thank you for visiting!

Jane Skirrow is a surface pattern designer and interior stylist from Sydney, Australia. She creates elegant hand drawn patterns and illustrations for use across a variety of markets, from interior decor, fashion and stationery. Her style is contemporary but with a nod to the past masters of classic pattern design.

Inspiration comes from the ever-changing natural world, the people around her, historic processes such as traditional block printing techniques and just being curious in her everyday routine. She finds patterns in the most unlikely of places and photographs or sketches along the way, to capture the moment. She starts with hand drawn elements, experiments with different media, then uses Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop to create a repeating pattern in a vector or raster file.

After studying for a Diploma of Visual Arts at The International School of Colour and Design (ISCD- Sydney) in 2008/9, Jane has been working as an Interior Stylist and Colour Designer - decorating homes for clients and creating paint colour schemes for houses. When compiling a scheme, the most exciting part for her is choosing the ideal fabrics for the curtains/cushions/bedding. After all, it is these finishing touches that adds the personality to the space and brings the most happiness to the client! Being surrounded by beautiful design and fabrics inspired her to start producing her own patterns and enter the world of surface pattern design. She has completed the ‘Make it in Design’ courses, Modules 1 - 4.

Her current role as an Interior Stylist with West Elm in Sydney, has allowed her to guide the design choices of customers and understand what they look for when purchasing items for their homes.

Jane’s patterns are for sale or licence and are suitable for apparel, bolt fabrics, home decor, homewares, stationery and more!
